Ministry

The Department of Ministry exists to assist NSMBC members in the discovery of their spiritual gifts, placing them in ministry and equipping them for servant leadership.

Imagine what our church and community would be like if we were all doing what God uniquely designed each of us to do in serving one another and others in the community. Whether you have one hour, one day, one week, or more to serve, your gift is needed and can make a huge impact on ministry in the Kingdom of God. We are blessed to have you serve at New Salem Baptist Church and want get you started as you prepare to make an impact! We encourage every person that attends New Salem to find a way to serve.

Do you need assistance with "finding our what your gift is"? Let our ministry team help by providing you with the tools and resources needed to get started.

Where do I start? Start by completing the 301 Discovery Class. At the end of the class, you will be asked to complete a S.H.A.P.E Profile. You will discover your God-given gifts, personality, and passion. Come explore who you were created to be and what you are called to do as part of the body of Christ.

New Salem has many opportunities to fit in! We will match your gifts, skills, and interests to the ministry that you feel will fit best. Our ministry development team is designed to help you become active somewhere in the (local) church.

Please pray about using your gifts and talents for the work of the ministry.  We have volunteer opportunities for those who would like to serve onsite, from home, those who are busy and available for as little as 1/2 hour per week. We have monthly, quarterly, and even annual ministry opportunities.

Why should you complete your S.H.A.P.E. Profile?

Completion of your S.H.A.P.E. Profile will aid  us in assisting  you to finding a ministry that will be both rewarding and meaningful for you. There is a specific purpose for you, and we want to help you in discovering that purpose to contribute to God's kingdom. You are critically important to New Salem and there is someone here that needs you and the particular experiences, triumphs, setbacks, and skills that you have. We need you, and we want you to be the best you, God intends for you to be through serving.

The Bible says this in Ephesians 2:20, "We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do".  You were made to make a contribution, not just to consume. God made you to make a difference. What matters is not how long you live, but how you live. We're all meant to give something back. The Bible says we're created to serve, we're saved to serve, we're gifted to serve, we're shaped to serve. We're commanded to serve God back.
